Hawaii 2023
By: The Dream Chasing Family
🌺 We enjoyed a (mostly) wonderful trip to Hawaii this year to celebrate the holidays. Contracting RSV (presumably from the flights) was the hefty price to pay for an Aloha Christmas!
Between the sleepless nights up with the sick keikis (Hawaiian for kiddos) and roadside pit stops to clean up car seat puke, we found some Mele Kalikimaka (Merry Christmas) along the Kamehameha Highway of Oahu’s North Shore! Now that we are recuperated, here are some of the trip highlights — and the first video I’ve found time to make since Luella’s birth!
We enjoyed our island time:
✔ Watching some sunrises (mostly because we were already awake with sickies so why not)
✔ Playing in the sand (and eating it by the fist fulls if your name is Luella)
✔ Waimea Bay surfing
✔ Waterfall hikes
✔ Cliff jumping
✔ Hammocking beneath palm trees
✔ *Mostly* casual conversation and laughter with family (only few tiffs)
✔ Slow scenic drives listening to Take Me Home, Country Roads on repeat per Eddie’s request (IYKYK)
✔ Sightseeing beautiful temples
✔ Some kiteboarding (Cody’s favorite)
✔ Wildlife encounters (feeding fishes, holding birds, catching frogs, and snorkeling with fish and sea turtles)
✔ Sandy feet beach walks
✔ Volleyball
✔ Good good food, PCC luau overdose on slow-cooked imu Kalua pork
✔ Hula dancing
✔ Dole Whips on the Pineapple Express
✔ Did I mention that Eddie stopped using a diaper for going #2, and hasn’t turned back since!? He is still working on his ‘Shaka’ hand though! 🤙
